Study Abroad

KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement Office

Study abroad is a great way to learn about yourself, learn about the world around you, and get outside the familiar.  Some study abroad options allow you to gain healthcare experience, as well.

Study abroad offers many options so you can find the best program for you, including:

  • Language of instruction
  • Living arrangements (residence hall, apartment, host family..)
  • Program Type (faculty-led, internships, student-initiated...)
  • Time spent abroad – two weeks, summer, fall or spring, academic year
  • Academic credit available

Because there are so many options, study abroad can fit into most degree plans.  To learn more, use the Program Search feature on the Study Abroad website.

Once you've narrowed down your options, stop by the Study Abroad Info Center to ask questions and learn more about your programs.  Finally, meet with a Study Abroad Program Coordinator to finalize your plans.

As you're exploring options with study abroad, stay in contact with your major advisor and pre-health advisor.  We'll help you fulfill requirements and stay on track.

Because of the differences in teaching methods and healthcare program requirements, we do not recommended taking natural science courses abroad.  However, most other courses are good options to take abroad.
